Pico the Tibetan Spaniel

Pico belongs to the very very lovely Sarah Gandy who can be found on ZM from 10-2pm.  Pico, Sarah and I spent a magic afternoon at the best top secret dog walking beach ever!   Sarah also happened to fill me in the the history of the Tibetan Spaniel, ancient breed of Tibet. These dogs were developed by Buddhist monks and were presented as highly esteemed gifts to royal families in China and other Buddhist countries.  They were also used as watchdogs in Tibetan monasteries to warn monks and massive Mastiff dogs about intruders or wolves. They are considered sacred in monasteries as these lion-like dogs resemble the lion that that followed Buddha like a dog.  How cool is that!  Pico is totally chilled and happy by nature which is a classic characteristic of the Tibetan Spaniel.... must be from soaking up the good vibes over the centuries of keeping the Monks warm during hours of meditation!  Well that's my theory anyway.

Sproket the Wheaten Terrier

Within the first few seconds of meeting Srpoket I had experienced the 'Wheaten Welcome'.  It did include a gentle nibble on my earlobe... the most surprising greeting I have ever experienced to be sure!
